Welcome

Cathy Gately, Head of SchoolWelcome to Charles River School!

We trust that our new website offers you a window from which to see glimpses of the daily life of this outstanding school and dynamic community.  Then we encourage you to come visit us, tour our classrooms and campus, and observe children from PreKindergarten to our seventh and eighth grades actively engaged in their learning, working closely with highly motivated, passionate teachers.  The faculty here at CRS get to know and appreciate each child as an individual with his/her strengths, challenges and talents.

CRS students think critically and creatively as they work independently and cooperatively with their classmates. Learning experiences here are interesting and stimulating for children, encouraging them to think, and to take ownership and responsibility for their learning. Whether engaged in a debate or discussions, musical presentations, or interscholastic sports, each child is known as an individual and challenged and supported to do his/her best.  In addition to their growth in basic skill competencies, we care about children’s personal, social and emotional development, wanting them to be kind and caring people in our diverse world.

In my eighteenth year as Head of School, I continue to marvel each day at the breadth and depth of our children’s educational experiences – in the classroom, on the athletic field, on stage, in the science lab, at assembly, etc. I would be happy to welcome you to our campus to observe and experience first hand this vibrant educational environment.
