Our Extended Day Program (EDP) is available to children at every grade level in the school. The program begins at noon for pre-kindergarten students, at 1:30 for kindergarten students, and at 3:00 p.m. for older students. At 4:30 p.m., students in fifth through eighth grades who participate in an after school sport may join the program. Students may stay in EDP until 3:00 p.m., 4:30 p.m., or 6:00 p.m. Parents must register for EDP for the year, but may also register by the day with 24-hour notice, given available space.
The EDP curriculum varies according to age. We offer our youngest children the opportunity to explore at greater length the materials they use in the morning in art, science, or dramatic play. Gross motor play activities and free play are included daily both outdoors and in the indoor Dawson Play Barn. Older students work on art projects, play games, take trips, read, and study.
