Curriculum Library Extended Day
Our school-wide health and wellness curriculum is designed to educate and empower students to care for themselves physically, emotionally, and socially, to help students develop social skills, and to nurture respect for the diversity within our own community as well as the larger community. Our health and wellness curriculum is highly effective because specific topics are based on the unique issues and needs of our students. In fact, many topics are generated by the students themselves.

Our teachers work with children one-on-one, in full groups, in small groups, and in single-gender groups using discussion, role-playing, modeling, music, visual arts, and literature to address specific topics. Our older students take major responsibility in planning and implementing health and wellness curriculum. For example, our fourth- through sixth-graders use a "talk show" format to explore student-generated topics such as fears and transitions. Our seventh and eighth-graders hold regular student-run town meetings to address concerns with in the student community.
