Curriculum Library Extended Day
At all grade levels, our science curriculum emphasizes the scientific process of observing, collecting and categorizing data, hypothesizing, and experimenting. In the earliest years, students explore topics of their own interest such as insects, seeds, and the human body as well as topics related to classroom themes.

In fourth through sixth grades, students explore in-depth science units that are related to classroom themes. For instance, sixth- graders study fresh and salt water environments, whales, and oceanography as part of the sixth grade's theme, Water Systems and the Birth of Civilizations. Our seventh/eighth grade curriculum integrates the traditional disciplines of physics, chemistry and life science into a two-year curriculum in which students explore topics that are relevant to their interests and experiences while furthering their understanding of important scientific concepts.

Across grade level, our teachers utilize a hands-on, activity-oriented approach that actively engages students in science, fosters students' curiosity, and helps students make connections between science concepts and their own experiences. We offer a rich array of field trips to complement our science curriculum and to provide additional hands-on experiences for our students.
