The Admissions Process

We are still accepting applications for the wait list for some grades for the school year 2008-09. Please contact the Admissions Office for more information.

Parents who are interested in learning more about Charles River School for 2009-10 should contact us for a school brochure and call in August to schedule a tour of the school in the fall. Parent volunteers conduct the tours most days of the week, preferably in the morning. The deadline for applications is January 15 but it is helpful to have applications submitted prior to that date.  We schedule visits for applicants in January and February and notify parents of admissions decisions on March 10.

We will hold two open houses in the fall tentatively on the following dates:

Thursday, October 23, 2008 7-9pm

Sunday, November 2, 2008    2-4 pm

These events are opportunities for interested parents to meet faculty members and administrators and see the classrooms but does not take the place of the more extensive tours given during the school day.

For further information please contact Mimi Earley at 508-785-8213 or by e-mail at mearley@charlesriverschool.org.

Charles River School is a school where individual differences are respected. We actively seek children who are ready for the challenges of interdisciplinary and collaborative learning, divergent thinking, and academic risk-taking, who will contribute to the community, and who will maintain a diversity of backgrounds and strengths in our student body. As we articulate in our Statement of Philosophy, "An excellent education must instill in children an understanding of and appreciation for our diverse world. Charles River School is committed to providing an environment and an education that encourages children to respect all people, to consider historical and contemporary issues from many perspectives, and to become informed, active members of society."

We encourage inquiries from families who represent diversity in all its aspects: ethnic, religious, socio-economic, racial, family structure, and geography.

Students enter Charles River School at all grades from pre-kindergarten (4-year-olds) through seventh grade. We do not accept applications for eighth grade.

Financial Aid is available and is based solely on need. Applications are held in confidence and should be submitted by February 1, 2008.

Please contact Marion Earley, Director of Admissions (508-785-8213; mearley@charlesriverschool.org) to find out more about Charles River School.
