Process
Children enter Charles River School at all grades from PreKindergarten (4 years old) through Grade 7. Since our 7th and 8th grade program is a two-year sequence, we do not accept applications for Grade 8.
We work hard to make the admissions process informative and convenient. During the process we are seeking answers to the following questions:
- If a child attends Charles River School, will she/he thrive and experience success?
- Are the parents’ expectations consistent with the School’s purpose and philosophy?
Prior to visiting Charles River School we suggest that parents think about what their goals and expectations are for their child and for a school. What would they like a school to do for that child? How does the child seem to learn best? As is the case with most independent schools, we are trying to determine whether there is a good match between the school and the family. Experience has shown that children do best in school when their parents support what the school is doing and are involved in their child’s education.
Ultimately, we admit children who will succeed and thrive at Charles River School—students who are ready for the rich course of study and the academic challenges of interdisciplinary education. While there is no “typical” CRS student, our children share a love of learning and the ability to succeed in a collaborative learning environment.
