Parent Education Series Talk
7-8:30pm
Foster Hall at Charles River School
What makes a good school for boys? What do boys really need in an educational setting? And how can we better support them? Join us to hear Dr. Kindlon talk about the types of unique challenges boys encounter as they grow up, and how to cultivate and seek out the support and connections boys need to better navigate the world in front of them.
Dan Kindlon, Ph.D. is faculty member at Harvard University and a clinical and research psychologist who specializes in the emotional health of children and adolescents. In over 20 years of clinical practice–encompassing psychotherapy, neuropsychology and school consultation–Dr. Kindlon has focused on the diagnosis and treatment of emotional problems, learning disabilities and attention deficit disorders. He is the author of numerous scientific journal articles and three books, including the 1999 New York Times bestseller, “Raising Cain: Protecting the Emotional Life of Boys,” co-authored with Michael Thompson. He has made numerous national media appearances on The Today Show, 20/20, CNN, and National Public Radio.

We’ll have games, rides, crafts, a giant grill, ponies, hay rides, a fantastic yard sale, cupcake decorating, face painting, a JELL-O eating contest and much, much more! Open to anyone!
CRS Centennial Golf Tournament
Wednesday, September 21, 2011 dawned bright and sunny for the CRS Centennial Golf Tournament. At noon, 44 golfers eagerly lined up in their golf carts at Brookmeadow Country Club in Canton for a fun day of golf in support of Charles River School.
Brookmeadow is an award-winning golf course and was challenging enough to provide a test for better golfers, but its wide fairways and large greens level the playing field for folks with higher handicaps. We had a wide array of skill levels participate, from first-time golfers to very experienced players. Current parents, past parents, grandparents and alums and faculty shared the course, making for a true community event. Even better–the event was a huge success and raised $19,000 for CRS!
CRS Centennial Square Dance
Can you do-si-do? Promenade? Allemande right? Of course you can! On Saturday, September 17th at 3pm, we will host the CRS Centennial Square Dance! All families, alums, grandparents and friends of the school are invited to kick up their heels at Charlescote Farm, 177 Farm Road, Sherborn.
There will be cowboy hats for sale, a professional square dance caller, live music and cider and donuts. Yee-haw!
