CRS Students Recognized in SISAL Competition

Congratulations to our middle school students who were recognized in this year’s SISAL (Small Independent School Art League) Competition. Sixth graders Gabby Wood and Riley Anukem received First Place in Sculpture for their project “Sneaker.” In this project, which combines art and math, they carefully scaled all dimensions of a sneaker to create a much larger, to-scale model. Seventh grader Mary Cate Clayton received Second Place in the Print Making category for her creation “Buffalo.”

Click here to see a fun time-lapse video of this year's show (you'll spy some 6th grade "Time Ten" projects, like Gabby and Riley's sneaker and the penny at the end).
The SISAL awards are juried by a panel of artists; students in Grades 6 - 8 compete against middle school students from other local schools, and students in Grades 9 - 12 compete against students in those grades. The annual art show includes mostly eastern Massachusetts independent schools.
