CRS students use intellect, experience, and optimism to see what’s possible -- and then take action in and out of the classroom. This August, the Parent Association organized a backpack and school supplies drive to help Boston-area children in need. The community came together and, during a PA-sponsored summer playdate, parents and students assembled 74 backpacks to donate to local non-profit Backpacks for New Beginnings.
On Thursday, September 12, a representative from the organization arrived on campus and Grade 5 students loaded her car with the supplies. Head of School Gretchen Larkin joined them and asked students to imagine starting the school year without the supplies they needed. It helped provide context to the project and students were engaged as they talked about taking responsibility in their community to help others.
