Mass Audubon Walks Wetlands with Faculty

Our faculty model lifelong learning and bring what they learn back to the classroom. Science teachers Annie Kenney, Kathleen Boucher-Lavigne and Becca Hurd enjoyed a fascinating professional development session and hands-on experience in the Wetlands Lab with Mass Audubon.

Our CRS faculty asked for some guidance on creating lesson plans that included soil studies and the wetlands. Together with Melissa Hansen and Josh Rapp from Mass Audobon, they looked at the soil structure in the Wetlands and discussed how and why it forms the way it does, as well as how the plants and other organisms contribute to the soil formation there.
Thank you to Mass Audobon; Melissa will continue to work with faculty throughout the year as we improve our curriculum surrounding the wetlands.
