Math and STEM: How Math in the Elementary Grades Leads to Success in the Middle School

We invite you to join 7/8 math teacher Lizz Albany and Associate Head of School Elizabeth Clayton as we explore all things math at CRS. From PreK number formation and counting all the way through probability and combinatorics in MathCounts, we want to give you a behind-the-scenes look at what we teach, how we teach it, and why we teach the way we do. We’ll touch on what contributes to (and what counteracts) the math anxiety that so many students experience and show you how the use of physical manipulatives and digital tools helps bolster our students’ understanding of both the procedures behind and the applications of math at every level. In our time together you will get the chance to roll up your sleeves and explore math the CRS way, hear from teachers and students about what we’re learning each day, and leave with concrete tools and ideas for partnering with us to foster your child’s mathematical growth inside and beyond the classroom.
