We want each of our students and their families to consider CRS their home. All students should be able to see themselves at CRS, should be comfortable navigating all campus spaces, and know who to turn to with questions. This year, in addition to our all-new student orientation, Charles River School also hosted Compass, an orientation for new students of color and their families. Faculty, staff, and administrators were joined by current families of students of color to welcome our newest Otters.

While students explored campus on faculty and student-led tours and participated in activities in their classrooms, parents and caregivers came together in Foster Hall for a chance to hear from administrators and ask questions. Then all students and parents came back together for a hands-on STEM activity.

Compass will continue throughout the year as an affinity space for families of students of color. Led by the Director of Equity, Belonging, and Community Life Nia Jacobs, families will have the opportunity to connect throughout the school year.
