The Class of 2027 Travels to Acadia National Park

May 16, 2025

The class of 2027 embarked on an multi-night Outdoor Education Field Trip this month. Read about their journey via our daily blog posts.

About the trip: The sixth grade class embarked on a three-day, two-night outdoor education field trip to participate in the Schoodic Education Adventure (SEA) Program located on the Schoodic Peninsula in Acadia National Park in Maine. The trip took place from May 12 – 14. Our sixth grade science curriculum centers on the themes of water, weather/climate/climate change, and ecology. Participating in the SEA program allowed for a real-world capstone experience for our students in a marine setting where we expanded our experimentation beyond the local freshwater systems. It also links to work in humanities class as students apply creative reflection and synthesis skills. Sixth graders participated in real scientific research focusing on climate change in Acadia and explored Schoodic Point’s shoreline, wetlands, and forests led by a team of park rangers. The trip is was also an excellent opportunity for community building between students, teachers, and advisors.
