Thinking Summer Thoughts

January 11, 2024

Written by Emily Reith, Director of Extended Day and Summer Programs

Sunny days of summer could not seem farther away as we spent this week sledding and playing around campus bundled up in hats and coats. But, we can’t help it – we have summer on our mind! We have opened registration for CRS Summer 2024 and I couldn’t be more excited. Our goals for camp this summer are to create joyful, fun, and impactful activities and to honor old traditions with a new twist.

Our Charles River Creative Arts Program, which has run for more than 50 years, continues to bring art, music, dance, and creativity of all kinds to our campus over the summer. This program takes choice to the next level. Campers choose from a catalog of classes and get to create a schedule that truly reflects their varied interests. Every session, campers make amazing movies, musicals, stories, performances, and displays with the support and guidance of counselors.

Within CRCAP, campers can also select STEM, innovation, traditional day camp sports and nature activities where they will be spending a lot of time exploring our very own Wetlands, performing in our daily Noontime Show, and taking a dip in the pool. CRCAP campers can sign up for two week multi-activity sessions and/or for four-week production sessions, which culminate in an end of session play.

Our newest program this summer is Game Changers: Athletic Intensives which will allow campers who are passionate about a particular sport to focus on it all day long with experienced instructors.

We will also offer “come by the day” Caregiver with Toddler sessions called CRS Summer Minis to participate in Music, Science & STEAM, and Art Exploration. And, a meaningful, collaborative and structured Leadership / CIT program for 15 and 16 year olds.

We have something planned for all types of campers this summer!  However it works for your schedules, remember that summer will be here before you know it! Click here to learn more and register today.
