Charles River School celebrated two MLK Days of Action on January 12th and January 19th. Head of School Gabe Burnstein shared at our all-school assembly about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s vision for beloved community with “overflowing love which seeks nothing in return.” We talked about how MLK Day celebrates the work of Dr. King and it also celebrates the many, many other ordinary people who did extraordinary things together with him in beloved community.
What did Otters work on for the Days of Action?
In addition to service learning projects that took place in all grades for the Days of Action, we also held a special Beloved Community lunch this special lunch to celebrate our own beloved community. The objective was simply to share a meal together and be in community. Our entire school – all 186 students plus faculty and staff enjoyed lunch together.
We are very grateful to all of our families and community members for living Dr. King’s vision and sharing “overflowing love which seeks nothing in return”!
